About CVD
IEEE-USA Congressional Visits Day (CVD) is an annual event that brings engineers, scientists, mathematicians, researchers, educators, and technology executives to Washington, D.C., to raise visibility of and support for engineering and technology. This premier event is open to all IEEE members in the United States.
CVD’s Objectives
CVD is an opportunity to introduce yourself, your colleagues, your company, and your profession to our elected officials. It also a great opportunity to discuss legislation and issues that are uniquely important to IEEE members. You will speak with your representatives about policy issues selected by IEEE-USA Government Relations Staff.
Basic Instructions for Participants
- First-time CVD participants and experienced CVD attendees are encouraged to join the virtual logistics call on February 25 at 3:00 PM EST. This recorded training session is for all participants offering logistic information and directions.
- Hotel Block – Our hotel room block at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City at Reagan National Airport, Arlington, VA, is now SOLD OUT.
- CVD Day One (March 17th) is Training Day. This is a unique session and separate training from the recordings. IEEE-USA legislative professionals will guide and coach CVD attendees in person on current policy briefings and priorities determined by the IEEE-USA Policy Committee and the Board of Directors. The “mock” congressional meetings are not to be missed!
- CVD Day Two (March 18th) are your Congressional Meetings on Capitol Hill. Remember that your attendance at all your meetings is as part of a team consisting of other IEEE members. Come meet your fellow IEEE members at the reception following the CVD Day One Training.
- IEEE-USA will schedule all meetings with your Representative, Senators and/or their staff, based on where you live and vote.
- Your exact schedule for your Hill visits is determined by your Legislators’ availability.
- For this year’s CVD, we are working with Advocacy Associates, an outside consulting firm organizing everyone’s Congressional meetings. You will receive an email from them prior to CVD 2026 confirming your individual Congressional meetings schedule.
